What is Behavioural Optometry
Behavioural Optometry is an expanded area of optometric practice that focuses on vision.
Sight refers to whether a letter of a given size at a given distance can be seen. However, vision encompasses the ease or difficulty in which it is seen, as well as whether the brain is able to interpret and process the information that the eyes have detected. Therefore good eyesight does not always indicate good vision.
Behavioural optometrists have a holistic approach to the treatment of vision and vision information processing problems. Our holistic approach may include spectacles, lifestyle advice, vision therapy or referrals to other health care practitioners. Behavioural optometrists deal mainly with children, but also with adults.
